Why It is Mysterious:
Mysterious because of its Architecture in Gharbalaya. Although there is no pillar opposite to Shivalinga, the shadow will reflect inside the inner sanctum of the temple.
Let you walk through:
In inner sanctum, you can see that shadow of the pillar.

This is the main temple and here if you observe there is no pillar.

Five pillars in the temple are placed in a way that the sun reflects on those pillars and form a shadow in the inner sanctum.
Below given is the panoramic view of the temple.

Translation: Panagal was ruled by Kunduru Cholas between A.D 1040 till A.D 1290 and their kingdom is stretched from Nalgonda to Mahabubnagar, they also dug a river to provide water facility to people around Panagal village. There are total 3 inner sanctums in the temple and in one of the sanctums there is stable shadow reflection all through the day and that is the reason why the temple is also called Chaya Someshwaralaya.
